The Ministry of Mining introduced today the digital database EITI. The website allows to anyone to obtain information on mining.

EITI is an international standard for openness around the management of revenues from natural resources, its aims to increase accountability of stakeholders and to strengthen good governance.

N.Enkhbayar, head of the Economy and investment department of Strategic policy division of the Ministry of Mining said that “Mongolia had joined the initiative in 2006 and established a National council and Working group consisting of state, private sector and civil society at equal ratio”.

The Prime Minister of Mongolia carries responsibilities of the head of National Council and Minister of Mining serves as a deputy. Mongolia submitted its annual reports for 9 consecutive years between 2006-2015 disclosing its revenues to Mongolian as well as world audience. During this period 4701 entities in total, submitted their reports including taxes, payments paid to state and local tax authorities along with donations and financial support provided to local communities.

The project “EITI online reporting system project” to receive reports of mining companies on timely basis was supported by EBRD and Interactive developed the software in 2014-2015 with technical support of Adam Smith International institute.

The EITI website includes various types of information such as special license, production, taxes, sales, donations and much more. The interested parties now will have an easy access to such information.
