MP L.Erdenechimeg submitted the resolution on development of Tavantolgoi coal mine to the Speaker of the Parliament. She had initiated the draft resolution last winter and had organized a press conference together with MP Kh.Battulga to submit the draft to the Government for review.

The draft resolution proposed to establish state owned Erdenes Tavantolgoi jointly with foreign and domestic investors. The ownership of the state is set to be not less than 51%. Erdenes Tavantolgoi currently in charge of Tavan Tolgoi development is 100% state owned company, which means that the current company shall be restructured with participation of foreign and domestic companies. 

Along with that the proposal includes structure of the railway concession company with condition to construct-operate-own-transfer, 51% of which shall be owned by the Mongolian Railways.

With the new draft resolution, the resolutions of May 30, 2012 and August 20, 2014 shall be invalidated. The resolution 181 of the Government stated that 1072 share owners – Mongolian citizens and national entities have no voting rights, which considered by the proposal initiators is violating the Constitution. The initiators included in the draft resolution to invalidate this solution.

The draft resolution is supported by 40 MPs.

Question raised by a journalist whether the draft resolution should be discussed during the spring session MP L.Erdenechimeg briefly answered “Speaker to decide”
