The representatives of the civil society rallied at the right gate of the Parliament House today standing against the nuclear waste. The demonstrators dusted yellow powder which was cleared by the emergency and intelligence officers and demonstrators brought to the Police department, was reported by media. Demonstrators explained that the yellow powder was not roxic substance but yellow ochre for the purpose to alert the law makers. However, some sources say that the powder was not dusted, but accidentally spilled.
The demonstrators clarified that “We wanted to deliver a message to the parliamentarians that there is a very high potential of nuclear waste to enter to Mongolia if the convention to be ratified. The yellow ochre was in a bag and we spilled accidentally”. The rumor was spread that the demonstrators to be taken to the court at 14.00 today and some people including “Bosoo khukh Mongol” Ts.Buyanduuren, “National center against disaster” coordinator J.Ganbaatar, journalist Ch.Munkhbayar are detained. According to the sources the demonstrators were not detained by being imposed fine in accordance to the administrative action. The demonstrators see that as the state mechanism to stand against Mongolian citizens expressing their opinion standing next to the Parliament House.
