Despite the decree to launch a non-regular session of the Parliament to start on March 29 with 4 items in the agenda, the Speaker had to close the non-regular session.

Planned discussions of four draft laws on nuclear sector and the recommendation of the Constitutional court were postponed once again as the MPP caucus didn’t even try to enter the session hall. Therefore, the Speaker said “I’ve attempted to call the non-regular session for the 6th time.

The spring session of the Parliament shall start from next week. I do understand that members failed to attend the session are supporting the backfill of yellow powder. I extend my appreciation to members of DP and Integrity coalition. Hope next week the members shall come to the session. Herewith, I am closing the unopened session”.

The non-regular session that had created a great sensation on suspicion of backfilling the nuclear waste seems to be transferred to the spring session to start on April 5.

The official sources explained that the non-regular session was called due to upcoming high level meeting on nuclear safety to take place in March 31 but it faced a strong opposition from the civil movements. On March 29 or the day of the start of the non-regular session, the civil society representatives had rallied outside of the Parliament house and dusted yellow powder causing closure of public roads. The demonstrators explained that they had dusted yellow ochre only though three people were fined.

Meanwhile the DP explained that the failure of the non-regular session was caused by the MPP which refused to appear in the parliament session hall. But the draft laws that created disputes and suspicion are indeed the legal regulation to protect from the official backfill of nuclear waste. And the protest means that they do support the nuclear waste was said.
