MPRP members and supporters made a statement at their party head office and announced that they will hunger-strike at the Chinggis square.

MPRP members, including leader of the party N.ENkhbayar, deputy leader E.Erdenejamiyan shall come tomorrow at 9 am to the square and said to finish on June 5, 2016.

The reason of the hunger-strike said that N.Enkhbayar and E.Erdenejamiyan are not allowed to run for the elections as they are still on suspended sentence, therefore, said to hunger-strike with party folks.

The hunger-strikers said being checked at the Sukhbaatar district health center and prepared themselves for the strike.

Update: May 31, 2016. On May 28, 14 MPRP folks including the leader N.Enkhbayar went hunger-strike at the Independence square. They ceased the hunger strike at 10 pm on May 30. The source said that the hunger-strikers were reminded to free the square due to the celebration of the Children’s day (celebrated countrywide on June 1). Meanwhile, the General Election committee accepted the documents of the candidates of the MPRP on that day around 9 pm. The MPRP was complaining that the General Election Committee does not accept documents of their candidates and the Committee provided the explanation where it said that “The Committee receives documents of every candidate who submits the documents as only after the review the decision to be made whether the candidate is eligible to run. No such complaint can be accepted as nothing was received so far”. The General Election Committee shall finalize the list of the candidates by June 6 after the review of documents in compliance with relevant legislation.
