76 candidates elected for the new Parliament of Mongolia received their temporary member IDs on July 1, 2016. At 14.00 the results of the elections were presented to the President of Mongolia. President Ts.Elbegdorj highlighted that this time election was open; the voting rate was comparatively high. As the parties expressed their acceptance of the election results, there is an expectation that the first session of the new Parliament to be scheduled soon. President Ts.Elbegdorj said that the project to call the first session on July 5, 2016 at 11.00 is in place and warned that “all the 76 new members must present”.

He also said that before the National Festival of Mongolia (July 11, 2016), the new Parliament must make a decision on the new Speaker and Prime Minister. “Now we have to get back to works as earlier as possible and work hard with no gaps. Within July, the Parliament and Government structures must be finalized. By August 1, the Parliament and Government must be ready to work efficiently in full structure. I will highly pay an attention” he said.

With the President’s statement, seems the first session of the Parliament is set to be clear to convent. The first session shall be led by the eldest member and new members shall take an oath which validates the new members. Following the first session the Parliament shall organize its party caucuses.

As the MPP got majority or 65 seats out of 76 in total, the new Speaker, Government apparently shall be organized by the majority. DP with 9 members shall organize a caucus as well. The single member from the MPRP was also sitting at the previous Parliament, he had expressed that he will be supporting DP. But no words of support was received from S.Javkhlan, independent candidate and singer.
