The Executive committee of the Democratic Party had a meeting yesterday and agreed to deliver a proposal to the Civil Will-Green Party (CWGP) and Mongolian National Democratic party (MNDP) to merge with DP. Z.Enkhbold, leader of the DP met today with leaders of CWGP and MNDP Mrs S.Oyun and Mr N.Battsereg and handed the official proposal on merger.

The DP’s official website ardchilsannam.mn posted that the CWGP and MNDP to discuss the proposal at all levels of their structures including Executive committee, Congress etc.

The DP has 35 seats in the Parliament and the merger of Mongolian National Progressive Party, Mongolian Social Democratic Party, Mongolian National Democratic Party, Mongolian Renovation Party and the Mongolian Democratic Party. And if this DP proposal will be realized it will be a big step forward in the politics – merger of three parties with seats in the Parliament.

Current Parliament consists of:

DP -35, MPP-26, “Integrity” coalition 10 (used to be 11 as Ts.Battsogt left rge coalition and joined the DP caucus), CWGP – 2, independent -3 members.

“Integrity” coalition consists of three MNDP /G.Uyanga, S.Battsereg, M.Sonompil / and seven MPRP /O.Baasankhuu, Z.Bayanselenge, L.Tsog, J.Tsolmon, Ts.Oyunbaatar, D.Terbishdagva, Ch.Ulaan /.

If the coalition will break up and 3 MNDP members will join the DP it means the MRPR will lose its status of the caucus. It means that the DP 35 + MNDP 3 + CWGP 2 to create a caucus with 40 members, but only in case if the above mentioned three parties will merge.

Whatever the case is the CWGP seems had negotiated with the MNDP at certain level and exchanged their MOUs officially. But the question is where G.Uyanga will go as she ran her candidacy from the MNDP? Will she return back to DP? Will D.Terbishdagva, who recently sent an offensive letter to the party leader to stick to MPRP? So there are many questions remains open.

Nevertheless, the merger of three parties will change the party ratio within the Parliament and as Alice says “Curiouser and curiouser!.
