The Parliamentary elections are expected to take place this year. So what actions have been taken and what we expect next:
January:
-The election date set on June 29. This will be a public holiday
-Mandates set as the same for 2012 Elections
February:
-The General Election committee established election units at soum and districts in accordance with the law
March:
-The maximum allowed budget for candidates set. The General Election committee used to set the threshold, against this year the National Audit authority set the maximum amount for elections.
-The voters list shall be published online. The Citizens’ Representative Council of soums and districts shall determine the locations for billboards and posters
April:
-The General Electiuon committee shall establish Election committees for aimag and UB city. The committee shall establish the committees of soums and districts in accordance with the law.
-Election committee to be established to collect votes of Mongolian citizens residing abroad
May:
-Candidates of parties and coalitions to register on May 5-9 with the General Election Committee. Independent candidates shall register on May 5-11. Candidates for Citizens Representative Council shall register as well.
June:
Candidates to run for elections shall receive their confirmation on June 7 or 22 days before the election date.
Previously the candidates had been launching the election campaigns right after the receipt of their confirmation. This time the election campaign to start on June 11 or 18 days before the election date
