Total of 498 candidates are running for 76 seats of the Mongolian Parliament, including 429 candidates from 12 parties and three coalitions as well as 69 independent candidates.
129 out of 498 are female, 215 of candidates run for rural constituencies and 283 from UB.
Confirmation letters of candidates were presented last Tuesday (June 7, 2016) to 12 parties, three coalitions and 69 self runners by the General Election Committee.
DP, the governing party and its opposition MPP proposed 76 candidates each to run from all constituencies. The list includes also MPRP with 71 candidates, Independence and Unification Coalition led by MP G.Uyanga proposed 44, Republican party 36, Civil Movement party 27, Social Democratic party 17, Civil Will Green party 15, and Freedom Realization and King Choice coalitions proposed nine candidates each.
Constituencies 51 of Bayanzurkh district and 65 of Chingeltei district have the most candidates, 14 candidates run from each. The minimum number of candidates is registered from 4th constituency of Bayan-Ulgii aimag.
The candidates launched their election campaigns today (June 11, 2016) in accordance with the Election Law.
