The State Registration and Statistics General Office provided the socio-economic status for the month of April.

By end of 20165, Mongolia’s population was 3,5 million, and by the Q1 statistics 1,89 m are registered as employed. 320,000 citizens work for agriculture, 210,000 for industrial sector, 560,000 in service.

Q1 counts 143,500 unemployed citizens which means that unemployment rate is 11,6%. The data represents decrease of employment and increase of unemployment. Comparing to the last year the rate went up from 7,6% to 11,6%.

There are 33,400 citizens registered at labor agencies who are actively seeking jobs, 52% of these citizens are female and 49% of job-seekers are high school graduates.

Monthly income of households reached MNT835,000

Monthly income of average Mongolian household is MNT849.500 versus they spend MNT965,000 a month. After deduction of price influence, the actual cash income shall be MNT835,000 per month. The income went down by MNT106.2 from previous year. Classification of households revealed that income 14,4% of all households is MNT300,000; 17,8% is MNT 300-500K.

Only 9,3% of total households make income of MNT1,6 m and above, which means that only one of every three households have income up to MNT500.000 versus every one household out of 10, make income of above MNT1.6m.
