The National Audit office shall announce the election campaign budget ceiling on Monday, within the legal period.

The election law specifies the last day which to be Monday, February 29 to announce the the maximum allowed amount to be spent by the parties, coalitions and candidates.

Unofficial sources were saying that the threshold is expected to be finalized today. N.Suvdaa, press officer of the National Audit office clarified that “The issue hasn’t been finalized yet. Details shall be published next week on the National Audit office website within legal period”.

Previously the General Election committee was announcing the upper limit of the amount to be spent for election campaign. But this election due to amendments to the Law on Elections, the National Audit committee shall be setting the ceiling of the budget.

In 2012, the party and coalition election campaign budget ceiling was set at MNT9.6 billion.
