Marubeni wins the TT power station tender

Japanese Marubeni won the tender for the Tavantolgoi power station project to be constructed in Umnugobi aimag. Proposals were delivered to 25 IPP (Indepenent Power Producer) companies and 10 submitted their expression of interest to participate in the tender process. Four companies received detailed technical and commercial terms and the Management committee of the TT Power station project selected Marubeni corporation of Japan on February 28, 2016.

An International audit Deloitte Onch served as an independent auditor for the selection process.

Marubeni is one of the largest energy producers. The company runs and provides maintenance for power stations in 22 countries around the globe.

The Government of Mongolia established a project unit under the Ministry of Energy in 2013 to develop high capacity power station at Tavan Tolgoi coal mine.

The project unit of Tavan Tolgoi power station had completed over 20 studies on environmental impact, coal, water, air quality as well as developed related documents including 15 draft conracts such as Sale and Purchase of power, Investment agreement in compliance with the international standards.

Worley Parsons of Australia to serve as a technical advisor, Japanese Sumitomo Mitsui Banking corporation to provide financial advising, Shearman and Sterling of USA will be a legal advisor to the TT project. British Mott MacDonald completed the environmental and social impact assessment.
