Member of Parliament, Minister of Industry D.Erdenebat visited Japan on February 29-March 3. During his stay in Japan the Minister visited copper processing plants and representatives of trade companies and exchanged ideas on the copper smelter and refinery planned to be built in Mongolia.

During the visit Kh.Badamsuren, project manager of copper smelter and processing plant project unit made a presentation of the copper smelter project.  T.Yamakawa, deputy director of minerals, environment and energy department of Mitsubishi Material Techno presented results of the Mongolian copper production study report.

Officials and representatives of various companies attended the meeting including Yo.Kabayoshi, head of the Japan-Mongolia economic committee, general advisor of Itochu, H.Kamo, deputy director of Japanese mining association, Sumitomo, Mitsui, Mitsubishi, Marubeni, Soje, JXNippon mining metal and exchanged their ideas, knowledge and experience on smelter, refinery, key concerns on plant construction, challenges. The agenda also included the future of metal markets, copper processing technology.

The team lead by the Minister had visited smelters and copper processing plants.
