Mongolians brand their colts in the last month of the fall when the colts deemed to gained enough strength to overcome harsh winter. Branding is done on day of tiger meaning that colts to have an owner to serve. The festive celebration is the party of the fall.

Brands heated in the open fire nearby stall and recite blessings saying “brands to strake” which symbolize the growth of gam until the brand to tear out. After branding, the brand shall be dipped once in airag (fermented mare milk) and brought into ger.

All the people who attended the colt branding are invited to the host family and each one selects a colt to gallop for races.

Mongolia is rich with shapes of horse brands starting from moon, single, double and much more.

Arbat tourist camp, located 45 km away from Ulaanbaatar is going to organize the colt branding ceremony which we believe is one of the interesting yet fun events to enjoy Mongolian fall.
