The traditional Lunar new year is over and busy days to start. Generally Mongolians put away their festivities on 3rd day and say that the New year got old on 5th day.
However, this time the holidays are extended until Thursday and Friday was more official celebration in the offices and then again the weekend. Meaning greetings continued until 7th day of a new year.
So from today or Monday, everyone seems getting busy. The Government held its regular session to discuss seven issues. And the non-regular session called by the Speaker started at 9 am.
The non-regular session shall continue until February 26. And traditionally party caucuses to have sessions on Tuesday and Wednesdays with plenary sessions on Thursday and Friday. 24 issues are included in the agenda of the non-regular session, though there is an expectation that Tavan Tolgoi may be discussed.
2015 Fall session of the Parliament closed before Lunar new year or on February 5 had continued for 90 working days with 38 plenary sessions, 131 standing committee and sub-committee sessions resulting ratification of 412 laws and 65 resolutions, against approval of 10 out of 21 issues planned for discussion and the opposition criticized that only 50% of work had been completed
There are also strong critics that party caucuses spent too much time taking breaks on issues such as dismissal of the PM, defining state ownership in Gatsuurt deposit and amendments to the Election law. But there are many cases when non-regular sessions were called to discuss outstanding issues. Like last year, the spring session closed in July was extended with non-regular session as well.
Seems after the non-regular session which became a tradition for a Mongolian parliament, parties shall move into their election campaigns and our valued members to leave to their constituencies. Definitely the political life will be full of actions, activities and even surprises in election year.
The very last spring session of the Parliament scheduled to start on April 5, the day when plants to get awake.
