S.Munkhnasan, head of the Air transport department of the Ministry of Road and Transportation provided detailed information on direct flight Busan, Korea –Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia to be launched soon.

-Would you please comment on the new route Busan-Ulaanbaatar?

-We have agreed with South Korea during the international conference organized by the International Civil Aviation Organization held in Turkey last October.

-Which airline shall fly? And when the flights shall be launched?  

-Air Busan of South Korea shall fly Boeing737, Airbus321 and Airbus320 with 162 seats 2-3 times a week starting from summer of 2016.

-What is the importance of the new route?

-We see the flight as one of the factors to increase the competition as well as the new route shall affect the ticket price which eventually likely to go down. Currently South Korean KAL and Mongolian MIAT fly Ulaanbaatar-Seoul, so the new route will be the second route between Mongolia and South Korea.

-Any plans for MIAT to launch new routes?

-MIAT plans to fly direct Ulaanbaatar-Bangkok from May of 2017. We are also holding negotiation to receive transit flights from Siberian region of Russia to Asia.
