Mongolia Gold 2017 conference held for the first time in Ulaanbaatar today (March 17, 2017) at Chinggis Khan hotel. More than 300 mining experts, suppliers and officials gathered at the conference to discuss about the gold sector of Mongolia. Mongolian Government announced launch of Gold 2 program last year to increase gold reserves of the country and more importantly to encourage gold miners and investors to start operations in this sector.
According to Mrs M.Enkhjargal, deputy head of Minerals and Petroleum Authority, Gatsuurt, the long waited project of Centerra Gold is at the Government level waiting for the approval of the reserves reviewed once again and which feasibility study was amended. The deputy head highlighted the importance of the new program on gold, mining operations of which should bring benefits not only in terms of taxes but also to create new jobs. Along with the economic benefit the state encourages suppliers, technology providers and financiers to introduce global practice, instill safe culture, focus on environment and more importantly to bring advanced technology.
